A Beaver Dam: Summer to Fall

A trail camera on a beaver dam at Kabetogama Peninsula in Voyageurs National Park last summer captured a variety of wildlife.

The purpose of the camera was to confirm the area was a border for the territories of two wolf packs. Seen in the video are a collared wolf (Wolf V074) in the Nashata Pack and an ear-tagged wolf in the Shoepack Lake Pack (Wolf V036).

The Voyageurs Wolf Project, focused on understanding the summer ecology of wolves in the park, notes that “Wolf V036 was likely the mother of Wolf V074 as Wolf V074 was a subordinate member of the Shoepack Lake Pack before leaving the pack and joining/forming the Nashata Pack.”

Kabetogama Peninsula is about 115 miles northwest of Duluth.

This is wonderful! Does anyone know if there's a trail cam in Hartley Park? It would be great to see what other creatures are also having a Perfect Duluth Day.
