Postcard from Boulevard Lake

This postcard was sent from Scanlon by someone whose name looks something like “Alianine.” It was mailed on Jan. 21, but the year is not visible on the postmark. Clearly it’s about a century old. It shows what must be what is called Twin Ponds today, but is dubbed Boulevard Lake on the postcard.

The recipient was Bertha Couture of Rice Lake, Wis.

The message reads:

Dear Cousin,
We got here alright and having a good [time]. Took in a card party night before last. I will try to go to church at Cloquet if it is not too cold.

A different postcard with the same image was previously featured on Perfect Duluth Day.
