Perfect Duluth Day’s 10,001st Post

Last night’s “Lost Grey Cat in Lincoln Park” post was the 10,000th post on Perfect Duluth Day. We didn’t realize it at the time, and forgot to drop balloons from the ceiling.

Quantity is no substitute for quality, so let’s celebrate by linking to favorite posts from the past. Dig into those archives and find your favorites. And find that lost grey cat, too.

Speaking of lost animals, the best of those posts has to be the "Why I love Duluth" post.

Congrats to PDD! Thank you for providing me with a go-to site where I laugh and get pissed off everyday!

Nazi Sighting has been one of my favs. And of course, Open Letter to DNT. Yeah. That's right, I'll fav my own post. Bil Keane just died, so it is OK.

Bad Cat's "Why I Love Duluth" is the best post ever. I remember cheering when I got to the end of it.

Second best: Tim Pawlenty as Adam Ant/Wonder Woman/etc. in the post "There's something about this book cover that makes me want to spend all day making alterations to it in Photoshop."

This might be a good time to introduce PDD's alternate search engine.

If you don't like how the regular PDD search bar works ... you know, that one over there in the left column ... you can Google PDD.

We've been planning to add this search link to the left bar for about 10 months now. We'll get to it eventually.

Best thread on PDD has got to be the Troll Zone!

The Troll Zone is awesome. If I forget how crazy-nutty people are in this world, all I need to do is go there (or any other online forum).

I think "Nazi Sighting" is a strong contender for best PDD comment thread.

This is the first post I remember reading on PDD:
Dear PDD

And this is one of my very favorites ever:
What it's like in Kidland?

What is our post per day (PPD) average now?

Paul Lundgren

The PPD since the site was launched is 3.275. It's been about 3.666 in recent months.

The nerd quotient, or NQ, has always been high, but it might be peaking with this line of discussion.

"The Sound of Music" is coming up. There might be more Nazi sightings.

Redneck sighting rocked!

There is something charming about this historic post being about something as pedestrian as a lost pet. It's what community is all about.

I love PDD. I found it when I was living out of the country for a few years and far, far, far away from home. I have referred many people to PDD to stay in the know about arts and culture and happenings around Duluth.

PDD took a somewhat divisive turn in 2008 when the elections neared but the moderators got it back on track. I don't mind the political discourse but it got to be a bit much and some of the comments weren't respectful.

Great job PDD......keep up the good work!
