Postcard from the Same Old Place in West Duluth
This postcard image, touched up a bit from an eBay listing, shows The Same Old Place tourist information center and cabins at Fairmount Park in West Duluth.
The information on the back of the card gives the address 7215 Waseca St. The home at that location is still there, along with the neighbor’s house (which is in the background of the photo). The cabins are long gone.
Carl Kuchenbecker, proprietor of The Same Old Place, was known for keeping primates on his property, which landed him in the news in 1941. For more information on that, read the post “Footloose monkey afield in Fairmount Park in 1941.”
