Chester Park Pharmacy and Garage open for business in 1925

One hundred years ago today — March 14, 1925 — Chester Park Pharmacy opened at 1328 E. Fourth St. Chester Park Garage was already open next door in the new building. The previous day’s Duluth Herald reported that preparations had been underway for months for the pharmacy at 1328 E. Fourth St., noting that the “last yard of linoleum” had just been laid on the floor.

The paper featured a full page of stories and related advertisements, with the usual gushing praise it frequently offered new commercial enterprises:

Clyde W. Kelley, architect, furnished the plans and specifications. Built of brick, concrete and steel, it is modern throughout in every sense of the word. It shows the splendid results that competent planning and engineering can accomplish over adverse ground conditions.

In recent decades the building was home to Chester Park Laundromat, CarQuest Auto Parts and Chester Park Motors.

Operating out of the building today are Edward Jones Investments Financial Advisor Rebecca M. Hudoba, ShipRock Management and Chester Creek Chiropractic.
