My retirement fund in squished pennies

I told artist Moira Villard that she was my retirement plan, as I pressed six pennies at the Duluth Public Library on Saturday. Someday, when she’s even more famous, these pennies will be worth more than a cent!

I have some squished penny souvenirs from places I visit, and some melty waxy things, too, from soume tourism adventures, like the one created in this video of the Mold-a-Rama.

So of course I wanted some of these pennies, especially Moira’s.

The exhibit was organized by Alyssa Baguss, a public-scale artist who does a lot of interesting work at Silverwood Park just north of the Cities. More about Baguss can be found here.

I’m grateful to chat with them both and grateful for Baguss’ innovative project.
