Postcard from Skyline Drive at Night

This postcard image looking out from Skyline Drive at the city’s hillside, downtown, Aerial Lift Bridge, Minnesota Point, Lake Superior and so on has been used a few times as Perfect Duluth Day’s cover photo on Facebook, and more than once has been met with the question, “Who did this painting?” The answer is, we don’t know. Old postcards rarely credit the artist. But maybe someone out there knows.

What we do know is the card was produced by Zenith Interstate News Company and likely printed in the mid-1940s. The version used here was mailed June 29, 1947 from Carlton by a guy named Chuck to his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Stueble of Hastings, Mich.

I have been looking for a photo of the home I lived in as a child. It was on Park Point just across the bridge. I saw a photo once at Grandma's. Our house had been built by a ship Captain. It was the second house on the right coming over the bridge. If anyone ever sees a picture like this please Facebook message me.
