Duluth-area happy hour food and drink deals to last the week

happy hour

After a busy day, it’s tough to muster up the energy to cook a meal. But going out to eat and drink regularly is expensive. The good news? If you plan it right, you can drink and dine at plenty of local places any day of the week for 10 bucks or less. Here’s a daily planner for sampling of some of the best happy hour specials in Duluth and Superior.

Monday: Beaner’s Central Coffeehouse offers a pint of local tap beer and a cup of soup for $5 from 4 to 6 p.m. Happy hour specials apply every day of the week at Beaner’s during that time. Not a soup person? Other deals include $1 off beer and wine and $5 appetizers such as cheese pizza, nachos, bruschetta and grilled cheese.

Tuesday: Cross the bridge for Pierogi & a Pint Night at the Spirit Room in Superior. From 4 to 9 p.m., draft beer and a house-made pierogi are $6. This special will last through the winter, with pierogi flavors changing weekly and a standard potato, cheese with grilled onion and sour cream pierogi always available.

Wednesday: If you haven’t yet been to Northern Waters, which was voted Perfect New Restaurant in May, happy hour is a great time to go. From 4 to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday, the restaurant serves brats, fries or wings for $6. Plus, wash it down with a $4 tap beer or get $1 off wine at that time.

Thursday: Black Water Lounge is the place to be for half-priced sushi and $5 martinis from 4 to 7 p.m. Besides this Thursday special, Black Water has two happy hours Tuesday through Saturday, 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. to midnight, with $5 select martinis, $1 off beer, $1 off wine and a $5 happy hour food menu.

Friday: Pizza Lucé has one of the cheapest happy hour deals around with $2 tacos and $1 off pizza slices available in the bar from 3 to 6 p.m. Also available are $2 and $3 tap beers, $4 glasses of house wine and $3 rail drinks with your grub during this time and also from 10 p.m. to closing time.

Saturday: Nurse your hangover with a breakfast burrito and Bloody Mary at Burrito Union for $8.50 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The popular restaurant serves Fitger’s Brewhouse beer and has a host of other specials throughout the week. During Fourth Street construction, Burrito Union is having “all day” happy hour specials, including $1 veggie or beef tacos and $1 off draft beer.

Sunday: Black Woods Grill & Bar helps folks ease back into the work week with regular and late night happy hour deals every day of the week. From 3 to 6 p.m. or 9 p.m. to midnight, a range of appetizers are available for $6, including personal pizzas, quesadillas, onion rings and wings. Drinks are $1 off, select martinis are $5 and taps are half price at these times.
