Connolly’s: Behind the Batter

For the past few years around this time, the discussion on PDD has turned to Tom & Jerrys – where to find the fixins, if there are acceptable alternatives to Connolly’s, and the ups and downs for Connolly’s.

The PDD film crew got sweet and sticky with Steve Knauss and John Kurth as they began production on this year’s batch of Connolly’s Tom & Jerry batter.

Stay warm, stay frothy.

So, this stuff is basically scrambled raw eggs with tons of sugar, a little vanilla and some cinnamon and nutmeg?

It's about three parts egg to two parts butter by weight. It's buttery scrambled raw eggs. With nutmeg. And sugar. And rum.

COGGS is doing a fundraiser by helping to mix the Connolly's batter this year. They are looking for volunteers, and will get $2,000 from Thirsty Pagan and Connolly's for the work. From the Facebook post:

Three volunteers are needed daily from October 19 - October 30th to help mix up winter's tastiest delicacy, Connoly's Tom & Jerry. Preffered hours would be during normal business times, 8:00 AM - 2:30 PM, however if you and two friends are able to do an afternoon/evening shift we can accomodate! If you or anyone you know has some spare time in late October, please consider joining COGGS and the Thirsty Pagan in some batter mixing fun times! Please contact Waylon at waymunch@gmail to sign up!
