Recent comments feature maybe sort of fixed, we hope; PDD mobile version turned off temporarily
The little spot over in the left column that highlights which posts have new comments should be working properly now. Let us know if it’s doing anything funky for you.
We broke it three weeks ago while fixing something else. Now that it’s fixed, the new problem is that it leaves an ugly gap in the left column if you’ve read all the recent comments. We’ll fix that soon and then watch what breaks the minute we do.
Also, as those of you who read PDD on your phones or tablets may have noticed, we turned off PDD’s mobile version. This is a temporary measure. The mobile version was whacking out our regular site … yadda yadda … we’ll get the geeks on it eventually, and we apologize for the inconvenience.

Occasionally the recent comments are replaced by a video from a recent post. Font is also different than on the rest of the page (smaller).
Good luck with the fixes!
Still glitchy for me. Not quite as bad as it was, but still glitchy.
I have not been having any issue with the Recent Comments function, so it’s difficult to troubleshoot what problems other people are having. If you can let us know what web browser you are using and what exactly is going wrong, it might help.
The font issue is just something we haven’t worried about yet. Once we know we have it working properly we’ll be more inclined to futz with appearance.
As for the issue with our mobile version, if you are interested in reading all about it on a Word Press support forum, the situation relates to WP Super Cache and WPTouch. I don’t think I have it in me to attempt to summarize the problem, but we’ve got our top geek working on it.
I’m using Firefox, and I find that when I click on a post under “recent comments,” it doesn’t disappear from the list. Curiously, this only seems to happen when I’m not logged in to PDD. When I am logged in, it seems to work fine. But I’m not usually logged in because I usually just lurk.
Still doesn’t work for me. In the past I have never logged in and it still knew which posts I’ve read on that computer. I use firefox on both computers that I read PDD, I haven’t tried it while logged in because I only log in if I am posting a comment.
I’m also just discovering now that, whether I’m logged in or not, the list doesn’t clear after I read comments on an iPad.
Good to know. I had been curious as to what had happened with the mobile theme.
Same issues using web version on Android and Firefox on my vintage XP.
I use Safari (ducking and plugging my ears to avoid the scorn that will be heaped on me – hey, works okay for me!).
Currently not getting the videos, but that seems to be an intermittent problem.
Thanks for working on this!
The issue with the recent comments lies within issues passing 3rd party cookies with an iFrame on certain browsers and platforms. New default privacy settings will effect how the plugin will work for certain people.
We will continue looking for a solution and make sure to do the best cross browser and platform testing we can.
Currently works on Chrome and IE – PC. Chrome MAC. Android Chrome. (With default settings)
For me it doesn’t work in Chrome unless I’m logged in.
I’m using Chrome, and I am logged in, and it still doesn’t work.
It seems to work properly when I am logged-in on both my phone (Android) and PC (Firefox).
I can lift four hundred thirty seven pounds over my head but still nobody likes me!
