The PDD Calendar Transition Team

Left to right in our photo are outgoing editor Abigail Schoenecker, intrepid intern Emily Haavik and … announcing the new PDD Calendar editor – Lawrence Lee.

You might know Lawrence by his longtime Perfect Duluth Day handle “ironic1.” He’s been posting and commenting on PDD for almost as long as there has been a PDD. Lawrence is pastor of the United Church of Two Harbors, lives in Duluth, is active in the theater community and is also royalty in this town, having been crowned King Geek at the 2008 Geek Prom.

In the scant five days he’s been on the job his obsessive-compulsive skills have already led him to post about 150 events to the calendar. We’re in good hands.

Send announcements about your band gigs, magic shows, ribbon-cutting ceremonies and backwoods bonfire keggers to calendar @ perfectduluthday.com or fill out the fancy schmancy Submit an Event form. Lawrence will take it from there.

    Yay! My favorite tailor!

I’d watch out for the dude in the upper right corner. I like the expanded calendar, but it looks like that guy isn’t too happy about the regime change.

How do you get invited to these secret meetings?

  4. Paul Lundgren on April 1, 2012 at 3:02 pm

Apparently it wasn’t secret enough. The guy looking over Lawrence’s shoulder found out somehow and now he knows too much and we must eliminate him.

Wow, it looks like this “Perfect Duluth Day” has a distinctively chill yet professional work environment!

What you can’t see is that dude has his arms crossed, Upset Duluth-style. He is NOT. PLEASED.

    Haavik, isn’t that just Caribou?

  8. Lawrence Lee on April 1, 2012 at 6:23 pm

Nope. “Where in Duluth” is the Calendar transition team meeting?

  9. Barrett Chase on April 1, 2012 at 7:25 pm

You guys. Stop making fun of Lawrence’s partially absorbed twin.

Drop the balloons, we have a winner.

Is that an official “Where in Duluth?” question? It’s Bixby’s Cafe, right?

  12. Sam on April 1, 2012 at 9:47 pm

Bixby’s? Isn’t that in East Duluth? I thought Paul Lundgren was a die-hard West Duluth denizen.

  13. Paul Lundgren on April 1, 2012 at 10:24 pm

That’s why I’m not in the picture. I was at Beaner’s at the time.

  14. Lawrence Lee on April 2, 2012 at 4:33 am

In transition I had two meetings with Paul at Beaner’s and this one at Bixby’s. Next time I’m making Paul come to my neck of the woods to New London Cafe.

Bixby’s is up near Mt. Royal, which provides excellent cover for the PDD acolytes postulate and pontificate and otherwise plot virtually unnoticed among studying college students and the soccer mom set.

Congrats! So who do I blame for not including tonight’s launch of Joe Maiolo’s books by Overcoat books (overcoatbooks.com) at the Weber at 7:30? I sent the notice in via email several weeks ago….

Blame the calendar itself for being so comprehensive you couldn’t see your event was in there all along.
