Kozy Benefit: Sunday, Nov. 21, at Sara’s Table/Chester Creek Cafe

Hey all, we’re getting this in gear and need all of your help. Music is coming along and now we would like to see if any local artists would be willing to come set up and donate any or all portions of their sales to the Kozy residents fund. This will be a great night helping out our fellow community members and lots of fun!! Christmas is coming, let’s do double duty! You can call Alicia or Carla to get a space on Sunday night to help out with this effort … 724-6811 Thanks!

Hey Nate!! Thanks, I have you rowdy boys set up for 8 pm. It is in the library so you could do your regular gig if you like! YAY. Thank you, thank you. It’s gonna be a blast helping people out.

Are you selling art that evening, Carla? I could find a few signed books, or just new books, if you are setting up a silent auction.

  5. Gingerbliss Gingerbliss on November 16, 2010 at 6:41 pm

Hi Clare this is Alicia. Yeah, we have some art pieces already that we will set up for a silent auction. Any donation would be appreciated for this. Thanks!!

Will the money go to the local Red Cross or the Salvation Army? I think it’s awesome you all are organizing a benefit, I’m just curious how you’ll disperse the money. Thanks in advance for the info.

Sorry, I was reading down (like most folks do) so I didn’t see the post below this one with some more details about the planned fundraiser.

It sounds like the funds will be given directly to residents…is that correct?

  8. Claire Claire on November 16, 2010 at 9:16 pm

Gingerbliss, I will go through my stash and drop off some books tomorrow at CCC then, I know I have some good ones to give.

The Spin Collective will be there to put a positive spin on fire and raise some funds … are the apartment’s tenants being invited?

    More About The Event

Alicia will be posting a flier later today. We will give the money to a charity – not exactly sure which one yet. My preference would be for a local like Damiano or CHUM if they are working on this problem. The big charities are taking care of the big needs like housing — we are working more on the everyday stuff and giving everyday people a chance to get involved.

Bruce and I will be making the dinner so it will be GOOD!

Someone named Patricia wrote about helping. We need people to collect the $$ at the door for the dinners. That would be great!
And yes the Kozyites are invited.

I also got a call from a guy named Eric Bong who wants to do chair massage that afternoon from 3:30 to 6:30 in our basement room. Suggested donation to the cause is $1.00 per minute.

If anyone else has silent auction items bring ’em on!!!

Thanks for the call and I am more then happy to help… let me know if you need me for anything else..

Do you have the music covered? I could play an acoustic set if needed. Bill 724-0330

I see you said that you would be accepting donations of clothing. I have already started a coat/jacket warm clothing drive at my job and have received quite a bit of warm wonderful things. Is this something that I can bring Sunday night to be donated to the Kozy Tenants?

I have been talking with Diane who is overseeing where these people will be going and I told her about the benefit and she hadn’t heard about it and she was extremely excited. She is a great contact if information needs to flow back and forth between the benefit and the tenants. Please let me know.

I see by the new banner/poster on this post that you have the music covered. Excellent line-up. If someone falls through you can still give me a call.

Hey Patricia, bring the things here on Sunday night. We may get some more warm clothing items that evening for Diane to distribute to the residents. You can contact me at Chester Creek 724-6811 and if you could help me with getting this organized that would be great! Thanks a bunch

I was just at the Salvation Army in the Friendly West End — they’re being inundated with donations! In fact, re the adult males’s clothing brought over, they said they might be selling it at their store instead, they have so much clothing for the Kozy people now. This is beautiful, seeing how the community is pulling together like this.

  17. W.T.F W.T.F on November 17, 2010 at 1:33 pm

I also spoke with the Salvation Army and as Claire said they are overwhelmed. they asked me to wait and bring clothes another day while they get what they got sorted out. Good problem to have. Way to go Duluth!

  18. Alicia Alicia on November 17, 2010 at 2:09 pm

Thanks for all the information. It sounds like everyone should have warm clothes this winter … yay.

  19. Claire Claire on November 17, 2010 at 3:19 pm

Well, they certainly have enough of those hotel-room-size toiletries now!

Terrol is playing!?!?! Saweeeet. She is a fantastic guitar player and singer. I cannot wait to see her in action again. The question is, will Mr. Keegan be playing trap kit? Cheerio.

  21. gingerbliss gingerbliss on November 17, 2010 at 3:51 pm

Hey Carl, Kyle is playing with Terrol on Saturday night in the wine bar at Chester Creek Cafe. Check it out if you want to get in on the action 🙂

  22. Carl Miller Carl Miller on November 17, 2010 at 4:20 pm

Sawwweeet. Two nights of Terrol is tasty. What time? I am planning on hitting up the night in the box/pert near show as well. Oh how glorious!

  23. Claire Claire on November 17, 2010 at 5:14 pm

Carl, I am with you (figuratively). I love, love Terrol & Jane. AND I love CCC’s wine bar, it’s so cozy and sweet on a cold winter’s evening.

  24. gingerbliss gingerbliss on November 17, 2010 at 7:20 pm

Marc Gartman is bringing the whole band, so expect Too Many Banjos at 9 pm on Sunday!!

  25. gingerbliss gingerbliss on November 17, 2010 at 7:23 pm

Carl, our live music set starts at 6 pm on Saturday evenings and goes until 8 pm. Get in on our happy hour drink and app specials until 7. We would love to have you start your evening with Terrol and the crew at Chester.
