Wednesday Night at the Races in Superior and Esko

The Young Athletes Foundation and Grandma’s Marathon invite children ages 14 and under to take part in Wednesday Night at the Races, a series of seven summer running races held on six summer evenings.

This week’s races are at two locations — Superior and Esko high schools.

Age Groups and Distances
4 and under – 1/8 mile
5 and 6 years old – 1/8 mile
7 and 8 years old – 1/4 mile
9 and 10 years old – 1/4 mile
11 and 12 years old – 1/2 mile
13 and 14 years old – 1/2 mile

Registration is between 5 p.m. and 5:50 p.m., and the races begin at 6 p.m. Participation is free and each week children receive a ribbon upon completion of their race.

The Young Athletes Foundation is a Grandma’s Marathon program that focuses on the promotion and development of healthy and active lifestyles for youth throughout the region. Since its inception in 1990, the YAF has contributed more than $1.8 million to area nonprofit youth athletic organizations.
