Life House Celebration Gala

Celebrate 35 years of ensuring no youth is left uncared for or fending for themselves. Since 1991, Life House has provided unconditional care to thousands of young people on their journey to independence. Honor the vision of our founder, celebrate the shared legacy of 35 years of demonstrated impact and envision the years to come.

This event includes a plated dinner, program, games, raffle/auction and an after party. 

YMCA Woodland BBQ

Join the Lake Superior YMCA for a fun-filled evening of food, family activities and community at the annual Woodland BBQ.

Enjoy a free meal while exploring the YMCA Woodland Community Center and supporting the YMCA Aerial Gymnastics Team. Watch the Flip-a-Thon. Event highlights also include open gymnastics, face painting, bounce house, fire truck, yard games and live music.

Help-Portrait

This is a “call out” to all Duluth and surrounding area photographers, makeup artists, and hair stylists. I am trying to organize a Help-Portrait event on Dec. 8 at the American Indian Community Housing Organization in Duluth.

Sexual Assault Advocacy Training

The Program for Aid to Victims of Sexual Assault will be hosting a 40-hour Sexual Assault Advocacy Training in October. PAVSA is seeking kind, responsible and compassionate people who are interested in working with victims of sexual violence.

Green Clothing Recycling Boxes Hurt Duluth-area Nonprofits

This is my first post on PDD, although I have been an avid fan and reader for quite some time.

I am posting today to inform the PDD community of an issue that concerns area nonprofits and people with disabilities. Like many of you, I have noticed these green clothing collection boxes all over town. I also wondered who was responsible for placing them and where the clothing and items donated were going. As the boxes declare, “Recycle Locally” and feature the United Cerebral Palsy foundation’s logo on one full face of the box, I assumed that the boxes were put out on behalf of a local CP nonprofit, in order to raise money for their cause. This, however, is not the case.
