Grandma’s Marathon 2024 Registration Opens
Grandma’s Marathon opens registration for its three 2024 weekend races -- Grandma’s Marathon, Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon and William A. Irvin 5K. The 2024 Grandma’s Marathon weekend is scheduled for June 20-22, and registration for the weekend’s races opens on a first-come, first-served basis at 7 p.m. on Oct. 1. Twig Hockey is hosts its third Bingo event to raise money to support our local skaters. Bingo boards cost $1 each. There are no limits on the number of boards purchased. Winner wins up to 50% of each pot (up to $99.00) per round.

A run created to empower women, and to cheer them on while they are celebrated. “Bridging the Gap” is a metaphor for the pay, accessibility and other gaps women face. The Entrepreneur Fund (501c3) and Women’s Business Alliance created the Bridging the Gap Fund. A portion of the proceeds go to this fund that provides women with resources to build and grow sustainable businesses. Bowlers can sample four different cocktails from rotating distilleries. Games are every other Tuesday night. The league runs from October 10 - April 23, 2024. More details and registration information are available at: skylinesocialandgames.com. Teams include four bowlers. Subs are allowed. There are three games played per night (all 8-pin). Cost is $17/person per night.

Members of Lake Superior Kubb are hanging out at the Earth Rider Fest Grounds every other Thursday in order to bring to the masses a better understanding of the game kubb. Beginners are welcome as are team grudge matches. The Cedar Lounge will have a sign up each night, and winners will receive free beer and pizza. Sometimes, free beer will happen just for those giving kubb a try.

John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon 2024
The 40th running of the John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon begins at Billy's Bar. The start of the race is open to the public and free to attend. A gate or shuttle donation of $5 per individual or $10 per family is suggested. The Beargrease is the longest sled-dog race in the lower 48 and is a qualifier for the famed “Iditarod” in Alaska. Super Bowl LVIII
Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nev., hosts the National Football League's 58th annual Super Bowl between the National and American conference champions. The Duluth-area broadcast will be on the CBS network affiliate KBJR-TV channel 6.2. Usher will perform during the halftime show.

Grandma’s Marathon 2024
The 48th annual Grandma's Marathon is a 26.2-mile race on scenic Highway 61 along the north shore of Lake Superior. It begins just outside of Two Harbors and finishes in Duluth's Canal Park. The Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon begins at 6:15 a.m. on the edge of Duluth's city limits and follows the regular marathon course through the heart of Duluth. The full marathon starts at 7:45 a.m. The winner should cross the finish line around 10 a.m.
