State of the Steelhead
Gitchee Gumee Trout Unlimited is partnering with UMD Fly Fishing Club to bring the State of the Steelhead featuring Jason Swingen with JS-Outdoors. Jason is an avid outdoorsman, engaged in several community clubs and a fly fishing guide. He will share his techniques in chasing spring steelhead along Lake Superior’s tributaries.

The 34th annual Fitger's 5K Run & Walk begins at the Fitger's Brewery Complex and follows a 3.1-mile course through Downtown Duluth and along the shores of Lake Superior before returning to Fitger's. The course is a USATF-certified, chip-timed course. The entry fee is $40 before March 31 and $45 from April 1 to race day, and $15 for youth ages 12 and under. For the past 14 years, Continental Ski & Bike has been helping the community of Duluth stay healthy and active by hosting and facilitating a yearly community-driven bike swap. The swap has grown from re-homing dozens of bikes the first year to last year turning over more than 500 bicycles to new homes and raising almost $12,000 for local charities, Chester Bowl and the Duluth DEVO Mountain Bike Program.

The summer season of co-ed volleyball at Skyline Social & Games runs from early May through mid-September. There are more than 600 teams playing weekly during outdoor summer leagues. Weeknight adult league options include bocce ball, bean bags and volleyball (advanced, intermediate lower, intermediate upper and rec). Registration fees range from $299 to $309. 2023 Kolar Toyota ALS Fishing Tournament
A two-day fundraiser to combat ALS. There are two divisions in this fundraising tournament: in-person participation on Island Lake or via a virtual entry on any lake. Both divisions are a catch/photograph/release format. The tournament formats and rules may be subject to change depending on local, state and federal guidelines. Participants must be registered with one of the two divisions and have raised the appropriate amount of money to participate and to be eligible for tournament prizes.
