Bring a picnic and blanket for a family storytime at Cascade Park. (W. 6th St. and 1st Ave. W.) Duluth Parks and Recreation will be at the park with extra equipment for young children to utilize. This two-hour dinner cruise features music and narrated highlights of the harbor. Passengers will take in views of Duluth’s skyline and harbor activity. The fall-themed dinner by Bellisio's Catering includes polenta-encrusted pork loin with cranberry mostarda served with garlic mashed potatoes, seasonal vegetables and mixed baby greens with balsamic vinaigrette and dinner rolls.

Rich Hoeg, a Sax-Zim Bog volunteer naturalist and local children's book author reads his latest children's picture book. He also gives two talks on winter birding in NE Minnesota including "Finding Snowy Owls in Duluth/Superior." All money raised are donated to the Friends of Sax-Zim Bog. Duluth Cross Country Ski Club presents the annual two-night adventure-film festival Jan 4-5. Attendees can browse gear at local sponsors' booths, enter a raffle and grab a bite to eat and a drink. Specific films being shown each night vary, and are not announced prior to the event.
