Stormy and beautiful by the lake

Whipping water and big waves this early morning at Glensheen Mansion on Lake Superior.

Got that firm yet gentle touch?

Locally Laid Egg Company (Lola) is looking for a shift supervisor for Thursday night egg washing. Contact Jason @ locallylaid.com for details.

Pasture-raised Spring Chickens

The Twin Ports is great, but it’s lacked something – a commercial source of local, pasture-raised meat birds. We heard your cry.

Locally Laid egg company is expanding into spring chickens (it’s kind of a grand experiment – wait, it’s all an experiment). Interested? Here’s a link to reserve your bird or more info here.

Thanks Community of Real Food Eaters. You’re the best.

Blustery out at the Congdon’s today

Sea creature proclaims smelt cometh

I saw a commercial being made for the upcoming Smelt Festival while walking in Canal Park today. The sea creature character was booming out a pretty funny pronouncement from the Smelt Queen promising puppetry, puppet making and smelt-y fun in exchange for funding.

It’s stuff like this that makes me love this town.

Seeking Commerical Kitchen to Rent

We’re looking for a commercial kitchen available to rent ASAP. Ideally, it would not be a shared space, but we’re open to all suggestions. Thanks, PDD community, we could really use your help on this.

Hair Pride?

For all the beards and mustaches raised in Duluth this fall, I expected more of a bang for the end of M’ovember harvest – the epic month of facial hair. Was something posted somewhere? A gallery?

I do some freelance work for SwimCreative and see they posted this video of Mike Malone getting a classic shave on their Facebook page.

Chester Bowl ski-jump dismantling?

Taking my early morning walk, I saw bulldozers taking down at least part of the ski jumps at Chester Bowl Park. My first thought was, “Oh no!” — I love that Duluth sorta thumbs its nose at risk-management concerns.

Does anyone have the skinny???

Not your typical Duluth Visit

Where can I take hipster guests that is off the beaten path. Fun trails? Goofy shops? A-typical eating? Quirky destinations?

For instance, I’ve heard of Graffiti Graveyard, but I have no idea where it is – would this be a neat place to show someone interested in “real” Duluth and has already ohhh’d and ahhhh’d over the bridge?

What other neato gems are there out there?

Plan B: Seeking Rideshare from Twin Cities

Jefferson Lines changed its bus schedule without warning — just as its website promised it would do. Now I’m seeking to share a ride with someone heading to Duluth (or nearby) from the Twin Cities on Tuesday nights post 9 p.m.

I know it’s unlikely, but I’m trying to minimize the carbon footprint of my graduate degree.

Seeking Crystal from Cat Walk

Does anyone know what’s become of the stylist Crystal that used to cut hair at the Cat Walk in Woodland?
