Scenes From The Book Club Murders
The made-for-television movie The Book Club Murders was shot in and around Duluth, and therefore features several recognizable locations, but the name of the city is not mentioned in any dialogue. An establishing shot of the Aerial Lift Bridge in the opening seconds, however, is enough to say the plot of the movie is set in Duluth.
The Book Club Murders was shot in July 2023 and premiered on the Lifetime cable network on Oct. 3, 2024. It’s been available on Netflix since Oct. 1, 2025.
Back Forty Books in Two Harbors appears in scenes throughout the movie. The adjacent Landing 61 Sports Bar and Judy’s Cafe also creep into shots.
Look closely to spot books by Minnesota and Wisconsin authors or posters for local events.
Denfeld High School appears prominently in multiple scenes shot both outside and inside the building.
The Science Fair poster on this Denfeld locker seems to clearly be a prop and not a real poster, although it wouldn’t be entirely unprecedented for an actual event poster to include the time but not the date.
Labor World newspaper gets a cameo, lurking in a mailbox.
A Denfeld shirt makes it into one scene. There is also a banner in the background that reads “Hunters.”
The director gets all creative at one point and pans from a shot of the vengeful antagonist to a bas relief on a hallway wall at Denfeld depicting a secretive woman holding a finger to her lips.
