Harbor City named an ESEA Distinguished School

I’ve seen two (kind-of) stepchildren attend Harbor City. The school makes good things happen on a tiny budget. It is celebrating recognition as an ESEA Distinguished School.
The National ESEA Distinguished Schools Program is a project of the National Association of ESEA State Program Administrators that publicly recognizes qualifying federally-funded schools for positive educational advances and the outstanding academic achievement of their students.
I spent 20 minutes tracing down the acronyms for all of the dimensions of this award. The “Elementary and Secondary Education Act” was passed as a part of President Lyndon B. Johnson’s “War on Poverty.”
Basically if I understand everything correctly, Harbor City does a great job helping its students transcend negative circumstances. Which feels right — have you seen the environment my (kind-of) stepkids have to manage?
(I claim them as stepchildren based on number of rides and miles of rides given.)
