More Duluth Show Case Company ads from the 1920s

The advertisement above is from a 1920 issue of Hardware World magazine. Apparently hardware stores were tucking a lot of merchandise into boxes and drawers back then instead of displaying as much of it as possible, so the Duluth Show Case Company emerged as an innovator in retail-store cabinet manufacturing.

The company’s facilities were at 4924 Wadena St., near the location of the present-day West Duluth Menards store. The business switched its focus to refrigeration at the end of the 1920s and evolved to become the Coolerator Company.

The above ad is from a 1926 issue of The Progressive Grocer.

And this ad is from a 1928 issue of The Progressive Grocer.

Marshall Hardware was a majority owner of DSC, and both companies faced harsh blowback in 1919 for union busting.
