Postcard from Gooseberry Falls and River

This postcard of Gooseberry Falls — presumably the upper falls, northwest of the Highway 61 bridge — was mailed Aug. 20, 1952. The recipient was Mrs. Lester H. Dixon of North Vernon, Ind. The sender is probably her sister, based on the salutation. The signed name is Golda.

The written message reads:

Dearest Sister and Family: We have been at Two Harbors for a couple of days — and just came from these falls on our way home. Am on vacation. Will write soon.
Loads of love, Golda and Bill

And the caption:

Gooseberry Falls and River
Here is one of the many waterfalls on the Scenic North Shore Drive, located in the Gooseberry State Park about 40 miles north of Duluth.

I think it was 1952, going on the cancelation stamp.

It would be easy to argue it's 1932 or 1952 based on appearance, but postcard postage rates went from one penny to two on Jan, 1, 1952, so yeah, this postcard must be from '52.

And with the familysearch.org info we can be pretty confident that Minnie Shultice Dixon is the recipient and Golda Shultice Elliott is the sender.

Thanks Mike!
