Great Lakes Aquarium art on Superstore

It was nearly impossible to notice, but there was a glimpse of Duluth in the series finale of the NBC sitcom Superstore. The episode, titled “All Sales Final,” aired March 25. It concludes with a scene of the character Amy Sosa putting her children to bed. For just a few seconds, a piece of Great Lakes Aquarium art by Daymark Designs, a Duluth-based graphic arts company, is shown in the background.

Lake Superior Magazine recently reported on the poster showing up in the show in its “Around the Circle” feature, noting artist Scottie Gardonio started selling Northland-themed posters on Etsy in February and “someone who worked on the set dressing for the show purchased one with extremely expedited shipping.”

The episode can be viewed on nbc.com, and the brief clip of the scene is below.

Given the brevity of the screen time, I'm glad someone caught the reference. In addition to the Great Lakes Aquarium image shown above, the Daymark Designs Etsy page has similarly styled posters for quite a few other local landmarks. I'm looking forward to picking out a nice frame for my order as soon as it arrives.
