Postcard from Duluth’s “Business Section”

This undated postcard was never mailed, but at some point a message was scrawled on the back:

This is the main street in the business section of Duluth. It runs in the low part of the city and follows more or less regularly the shore of the lake.

I am going to be contrary and say that I'm not 100 percent convinced that is Duluth. Can anyone prove it or recognize a building? The only sign I can read says "St. James Hotel" which isn't a well-known Duluth historic hotel, at least.

Ok, never mind, found it in the 1900 directory. Address of the St. James Hotel was 213-215 W. Superior St. in that year.

Thanks Gina. I was having a difficult time determining what block this was shot from. The address you found for St. James Hotel would indicate the view of the postcard is looking east from the 200 block of Superior Street, which is now where the Holiday Center sits ... so things have changed a bit.

The only landmark in the postcard that stood out to me is the old dome of the Temple Opera Block, which is a tiny figure waaaay down the street on the left.
