Postcard from the Loneyville Motel

This undated postcard, published by the Elton H. Gujer Company, promotes the Loneyville Motel at 7717 Congdon Boulevard, a half mile northeast of Brighton Beach in Duluth. It’s the present-day location of North Shore Cottages.

The text on the back of the card reads:

Loneyville Motel
Telephone JA 5-2812 – North Shore drive of Lake Superior. Highway 61.
7 miles from Lake Avenue Heart of Duluth.
All new, modern, restful units with private showers and toilets. All units with innerspring mattresses, vented heat, kitchenettes, double or twin beds. Lois and Jim Loney, Owners, Duluth, Minnesota

A bit of 1960s-era film of the Loneyville property can be viewed in the PDD Video Lab post “Old Highway 61 Footage.” The infamous boot house and other miniature items on the Loneyville property were acquired from the Miniature Farm at Conrad Service Station in Lakeside, which was featured in a PDD Mystery Photo post.
