Representatives of Lark o’ the Lake Café announced on Facebook yesterday that their eatery in the Greysolon Plaza will not reopen. It has been closed since mid-March, when Minnesota restaurants were ordered to cease dine-in service as part of the Stay-at-home Order related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Owners Sandra Ettestad, Mark Marino and Don Monaco opened Lark o’ the Lake on Nov. 27, 2015. The space was previously home to Jacqui’s Deli and was best known for its years as Romano’s Grocery, which closed in 2010.

“We sincerely thank our customers for their patronage, all our past employees for their contributions to our success, and our community for the opportunity to creatively engage in historic preservation through entrepreneurship,” the note on Facebook read. “The Lark Cafe was a social enterprise dedicated to supporting the Duluth Aviation Institute. The cafe ownership will now focus on renewing the preservation and education goals of the institute through other means.”
