Nominees for Perfect Fish Fry Poll

It’s Lent, the official season to dine on fried fish and chips with a side of slaw, which leads us to Perfect Duluth Day’s latest poll. What local eatery has the best fish fry?

A Catholic fasting tradition of abstaining from meat eating on Fridays during Lent (to acknowledge Jesus’ sacrifice of dying on the cross) helped spark the advent of all-you-can-eat fried fish specials in places like Minnesota and Wisconsin. These days, folks of all denominations can enjoy this deliciously gluttonous irony year-round.

Who has the finest fish fry? It’s up to voters to decide. To qualify, a nominee must simply serve a fish fry and be located within 15 miles of Duluth’s Aerial Lift Bridge. This means restaurants in Superior, Hermantown, Proctor or other area townships are included but those farther away (Two Harbors, Cloquet, etc.) aren’t eligible.

We’ve compiled a list of joints that have fish fries below. Did we miss one? Tell us in the comments. We’ll launch a poll soon. Check back soon to vote for your favorite.

A few other places that purportedly have fish fries, according to social media comments, but were not included in the poll because no one mentioned them in time, are: Chalet Lounge, Dubh Linn Irish Brew Pub, Gordy's Hi-Hat, McKenzie's Bar & Grill and the Pickwick.
