Duluth Show Case Company

The Duluth Show Case Company, doing business as Duluth Store Equipment or simply Duluth Equipment, was a maker of display cabinets using the “Duluth Method” or “Duluth Unit System of Sectional Store Furniture.” Read the ad copy to determine what that might mean.

The ads shown here are all from the 1920s. The manufacturing facilities were at 4924 Wadena St., near the location of the present-day West Duluth Menards store. The focus of the business switched to iceboxes in 1928 and it was renamed Duluth Refrigerator Company. It became the Coolerator Company in 1932 and ceased operation in 1954.

The last time this company appears in the Duluth City Directory is 1935. The Depression must have caught up with them. Interesting how some of their ads were trying to help businesses combat "mail order" competition, likely the Sears Catalog, yesterday's Amazon.

Here's a photo from the 1934 directory. It leads me to wonder what the Duluth Restorium was.
