Outdoor fitness groups in Duluth
A question from PDD’s e-mail inbox:
I just moved here from Southern California. Do we have non-motorized events in Duluth? I mean joggers, walkers, bikers, skaters will gather and ride together. Example is CicLAvia in Los Angeles, where they closed downtown the city for motor vehicles.

Lincoln Park Meet on the Street was sort of modeled on a Ciclovia.
There are quite a lot of regular group bike rides of diverse speeds and travel surfaces, most often organized by local bike shops — Twin Ports Cyclery, Continental Bike & Ski and Ski Hut.
Austin Jarrow and Duluth Running Company hold a free (donation) spring and fall race series. I started doing them ~5 years ago and they were an amazing way to familiarize myself with all of Duluth’s single track courses. You can find more information at northlandrunner.com
There is another group of people who go running on Wednesday from Canal Park to the East end of the lakewalk. I believe they meet at 5:45 now days near Grandma’s Restaurant.
DXC (xc ski club) also has some events and races throughout the winter. Visit their webpage.
COGGS bike club has Monday night Fat Bike ride throughout the winter (fat bike required).
Northland Runner has a few running groups listed.
