Duluth Mayor Don Ness was “overwhelmed with a feeling of love and gratitude for this beautiful city,” yesterday (Sept. 28) and declared on Facebook that it was the “perfect Duluth day 2014,” encouraging people to “take advantage of everything the city has to offer” and post pictures and stories with the hashtag #perfectduluth. Here are some of the results.

I already really, really miss Duluth. I don’t need these galldarned photos of a perfect fall day. Screw you and your perfect weather and beautiful little city.

    Ditto.

Jesus. Don’t worry Vic, that good weather was only a scant 36 hrs lived which is why you left here to begin with. It was more like a mirage with Porky Pig clicking his heels while singing about the whirling dervish. And Don, I take advantage of shit here you may never discover. That’s the beauty of it, yet still feel comfortable bitching about all the weirdisms Northlanders engage in on a daily basis, like this post for instance. Not being mayor, I get to bitch about what I don’t like too. Tastes like…freedom baby.

Actually Don, I’m really happy your heart’s not in a shit-place like Stewy Mills, pray you don’t let it go there someday. This place would suck really hard from a sociographic POV if it was, it would be like before you took office when there was more yellow beer and less reference to Dylan. So we all owe you restitution for that. And I forgive you for having TBT as your favorite band. We’re all only human. So what if a nice weekend makes you overwhelmed with joy, its the 300 other piss poor weather days that build character. Me I wish I could just write as well as this Mills critic, Brownlifter. Be thankful this isn’t directed at you, coming from staunch Duluth ballchasing stock as you do…

“You really shouldnt waste dad’s hard-earned money like this. I mean, it’s nice that you think the good people who work in your stores a’rent worth a living wage and all, and that health care is something that only those who can afford to be gouged by insurance companies and big health should have access to, but most people think you’re just to much of a spoiled brat/punk to be entrusted with anything you dont own and can afford to lose. I think you’re done now. You can go back to your stores and help stock up on cheap Chinese assault rifles and wallow in your millions.”

I hate to jinx it, but since this mayoral proclamation, we’ve had a run of pretty fantastic Fall weekends.

No kidding. It has been absolutely gorgeous these last few weeks. This is why we live in Duluth.
