This week: ‘Tis the week of Christmas

‘Tis the week of Christmas and, here in Duluth,
Rubber Chicken has a revue which is most uncouth.

Bentleyville‘s lit up from bottoms to tops
and there’s Open Ice Skating for teens and for tots.

Magic‘s all around! (Well it is on Friday nights.)
And Fairlawn Mansion is all done up in lights.

CHUM’s holding a vigil to remember the homeless
who can’t find a room, like modern Marys and Josephs.

Winter Camp at Camp Miller will stave off the chills
with sledding, ice fishing and cold weather skills.

There’s outdoor trail hiking at Jay Cooke and Gooseberry
and indoor brew touring if that’s way too scary.

And all day Wednesday, my words you’ll be marking,
have a very Merry Christmas and enjoy the free parking.

I think we failed to note on PDD that the Chester Bowl Ski Hill opened for the season on Dec. 14.

The hours are 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, and 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays. The chairlift does not run on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Lift tickets are $5.25/person for all ages.

And here's a little something you might not know:

If you are a Chester Bowl season-ticket holder you can ski free for one day at Mont du Lac in Superior, Spirit Mountain in Duluth, or Mount Ashwabay in Bayfield. You can also ski free for a day at Giant's Ridge in Biwabik after Jan. 6, but not on Saturdays, or Feb. 9, or Martin Luther King Day or President's Day Weekend.

To redeem a free ticket, just present your Chester Bowl season pass to the ski area ticket window and the clerk will stamp a hole in it and give you a daily ticket.
