Out of 184 acts, I think I saw 30, which sounds like a lot, but I’ll bet some people got out to maybe 60 or 70 shows. I could barely fit in the room for about half of the shows I went to. For the Boomchucks, I made it just inside the door and no farther.
More than anything else, it’s always reassuring to be told each year that Freddie is going to do exactly as he pleases.
I would rank this year as the worst Homegrown weather ever. It always rains or snows for a day or two during Homegrown, but I can’t remember eight straight days of cold, gray bleakness happening before. On the bright side of that, it’s an indoor festival, so it doesn’t matter.
This will also go down in the history books as the first year a venue owner pulled the plug on a band — and it happened twice in a three-day span!
