We got a call about baby owls on the ground, and by happy chance, Dave E., who is not only an owl expert but also an amazing climber, just happened to be with us.

After careful consideration, Dave decided that the owlets were still just a bit too young to be out of the nest, though he thought they would be leaving it in under a week. He thought that the strong winds yesterday probably blew them and their nest down.

Dave climbs as nimbly as any squirrel, so up the tree he went! Farzad handed up tools, a man-made nest, and finally, owlets, while Dave secured everything into place. The parents kept a close eye on the proceedings, but didn’t bother Dave or Farzad. Rod, who called us about the owlets, will keep an eye on the nest to make sure the parents are returning to feed the little owls.
