Back to the tundra!

I am heading back to Duluth tomorrow.  I have been gone for a little less than a year, is there anything different enough that I should know about it in advance? What has changed? What is exactly the same? Any new restaurants/stores I should check out as soon as I get back? Suggestions for new local bands/upcoming shows?

As far as restaurants go, the three notable restaurant openings I can think of from the past eight months are:

    Osaka Sushi Hibachi Steakhouse
    China King Buffet
    Vitta Pizza

As far as upcoming shows, the Duluth Music and Maritime Festival should be huge, but it’s more about established Minnesota bands than new Duluth bands.

As far as physical changes in town, most of the construction has been the work on Duluth Public Schools, which is coming along nicely.

    Welcome back, Henry!

Sorry to threadjack, but what is being constructed on/near the Lakewalk next to the old Midnight Sun?

The thing in question by the Endion depot, is a massive sewage overflow holding tank.

Who can forget about the opening of Mexico Lindo’s in the old Chi-Chi’s spot?

Or Hanabi, which is relatively new.

    What about

I’ve already been to Mexico Lindo, I think. That opened like a year and a half ago, right?

Yep. Mexico Lindo opened in April 2010.

    Hanabe opened in January 2010.

So both were open before Henry left Duluth.
