For sweeties or tweeties, head to the Western Waterfront Trail

Not sure why I’m thinking this way, but if you’d like to impress your sweetie with your knowledge of Duluth’s cool places, plus get some exercise and check out spring, you can’t go wrong with a nice long walk on the Western Waterfront Trail. The St. Louis River is full of migrating birds, the trail is wide enough and dry enough for hand-holding, and it is so much more “perfect Duluth” than the tourist-lined Lakewalk.

Also, the Western Waterfront Trail connects to the Munger Trail near the parking lot of the Tappa Keg Inn.

The Tappa's smelt fry is expected to continue for the next week.

It's also a great running trail. One of my favorites if I'm looking for longish run of *not* Superior Hiking Trail difficulty. Good 5 miles down and back.

LOVE the WWT. I took Jerree Small there once. She wasn't my sweetie, but maybe some day she'll write a song about it.

Thanks for the smelt tip, Paul. I've been there for the past two days, plan to make it more. A bit off topic. Sorry.

Fantastic! I didn't know of this trail.
We all head north from the High Bridge.
