The Rev. Dr. John Nunes, dynamic speaker, president and CEO of Lutheran World Relief (LWR) will be bringing the message about Lutheran World Relief at worship services at 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. and adult forum at 9:45 a.m. on Sunday, March 6. All are invited to attend.
Rev. Nunes joined Lutheran World Relief, a $35 million in global organization in 2007. With a passion for service and deep commitment to LWR’s core values, Rev. Nunes leads staff in 17 countries in working to end poverty, injustice and human suffering worldwide. “I believe deeply that God created everyone to live in justice, dignity and peace,” John says. “When people’s most basic needs, like food, water and shelter remain unmet, they are unable to live out their true calling.” By working alongside families and communities struggling to life themselves out of poverty, LWR helps people around the world live into their full promise.”
Lutheran World Relief is a non-governmental organization founded in 1945 to respond to the needs of communities devastated by World War II. Since then, it has evolved from a relief agency shipping material resources to war-torn Europe to an agency that works with partners worldwide to respond to emergencies, seek lasting solutions to rural poverty, and work for peace and justice for all. LWR works to promote equity, strengthen organizational capacity, and empower communities to have a voice in decisions that affect their lives, while continually learning to increase our impact. Headquartered in Baltimore, Maryland, LWR works to reduce poverty and injustice by helping communities increase and expand the resources they need to live productive, healthy and empowered lives.
