Spirit Lake Poetry Series presents the poetry reading by Margaret Hasse and Norita Dittberner-Jax of St. Paul.

Both Hasse and Dittberner-Jax have recently released books which have been widely praised. Hasse’s Milk and Tides (Nodin Press, 2008) was a finalist for the 2009 Minnesota Book Award and won the Midwest Independent Publishers’ Prize in poetry.

Dittberner-Jax’s newest collection is The Watch (Whistling Shade Press, 2008). She won the Minnesota Voices Competition from New Rivers Press and has received fellowship support from the Jerome Foundation, the Loft, and the Minnesota State Arts Board.

Marilynne Robinson received the Pulitzer Prize for her second novel, Gilead, in 2005. She is on the permanent faculty of the Iowa Writers’ Workshop at the University of Iowa.

We are so lucky to have these fabulous writers coming!  Also, don't forget, Robert Bly will give a free reading at the Weber on May 4.  Pinch yourself, you're awake, and it's for real!!!

This is indeed very cool. I'm pretty impressed Marilynne Robinson is coming to Duluth. I interviewed her once for a magazine profile and she is absolutely brilliant. Read Gilead and Home together to fully appreciate her talents as a storyteller. 

Connie, remember when Irish poet Evan Boland came to Duluth? I could not even believe it! That was pretty amazing.
