Pineapple Art and Supply Center

A group of local artists opened Pineapple Art and Supply Center last month. They bought the inventory from Bohemia Arts, which is out of business.

The new store is at 124 W. First St. in Downtown Duluth. The grand opening is Saturday, March 20, from 4 to 8 p.m.

From the news release:

This small community-based business will fill a niche in Duluth’s art scene by providing darkroom and studio space for a nominal fee. The store will be open seven days a week and will have children’s, student grade, and professional quality art supplies for sale. In addition, there will be a gallery for artists to display and sell their work and a wide variety of art classes for all ages and abilities.

Passionate volunteers who strive to share their love of art with others operate Pineapple Arts. They encourage the public to share ideas and make requests.

Hours are 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Saturdays and 12 p.m. until 4 p.m. Sundays. The phone number is (218) 722-2919.

The building is affectionately known as the Pineapple Building because of the Pineapple design at the top center of the Building.

I just stopped in last week and bought a tube of oil paint. I'm sorry to see Bohemia go, but I'm glad there is still an independent art supply store downtown. Best of luck!

Hi Sue,

We were offering a Silk Painting Class during our last session with instructor Kathleen, who has several beautiful floral silk paintings up for consignment in our shop. If you would like updates on any of our classes, or what's going on with the store, please "friend" us on Facebook. We also offer two mailing lists. One through snail-mail and the other through e-mail. If you would like to sign-up please shoot us an e-mail stating your preference. It's great to see interest in our classes, and if you have any suggestions please let us know. Also, if you wouldn't mind spreading the word we rely heavily n word-of-mouth advertisement. We appreciate your continued business and hope to see you soon!!

Thank you,

Camille - Intern Pineapple Arts
