Oh, come on now, Landlord. I lived in 8 places in 4 years when I was a student and was never evicted from any of them. Ugh; moving all those textbooks...

Tsk, tsk, tsk. I agree Huitz. Nice Landlord he must be.

Steve Eng was my favorite landlord. :)

I would love to live in Duluth, but then
I think about January and think I'll pass
for now. I have been there in the winter,
my hands went numb in the time it took
to fill my gas tank. With gloves!

That wind off the lake when you're at
the London Road Holiday Station......

i rented my first pad here from (then) Sgt. Gordon Ramsay on 4th St & 9th Ave, back in 2001.

From there to 1217 E 2nd St, then to 1121 E 6th...from there to my current location.

actually, i've lived ten places in ten years in duluth. nine are mapped. i didn't mark an apartment i sort of lived in for a couple of weeks in 2001 because i don't remember exactly where it was, somewhere around 4th and 4th east.

i've never been evicted. i have, however, moved out of apartments not long after moving in, because the landlord didn't finish repairs that he promised would be completed before our move-in date, wouldn't get the oil tank filled even though heat was included with rent, or made us miserable by constantly screaming at their kids (owner-occupied duplex). i also had short-term rentals when the landlord was selling the house, and when we got out of a lease early to buy our first house.

the outlying points on the map aren't rentals. the furthest north was my dad's house, where i first (briefly) lived when i moved here. the southwest point is our old house near denfeld. the northeast point is our new house on dodge. i would love to never move again.

anniversary time for me too! 4 glorious years! Better winters than the Twin Cities - it's spring that sucks, here!

doubledutch

wha? nothing sucks here! creeks flowing again under that little shell of ice, pussywillows out behind the garage, mud aka "squishy squash" everywhere, the birds, the flowering trees - spring in duluth is freaking awesome. all you have to do is modify your expectations a little in order to enjoy it for what it is, instead of what you think it should be.

(and ignore the smell of dog poop emerging from under the melting snow.)

It's my anniversary, too. I moved up here at the end of August 1996, so I now have been here 13 years! Gool!

I have no idea what Gool means. My fingers were typing and I wasn't paying attention. I may have been trying to say Zool.

doubledutch - right - it's the expectations - I keep expecting it to warm up in late March/April but then there's that lake breeze...I guess I get anxious to start the garden in April but Mother Superior rules. P.S. I wouldn't live anywhere else! I'm baffled by those who think January is so awful!

Gool is the safe-zone in the game of tag. I think you were trying to say that Duluth is the gool of life.
