Camping Gear for Rent in Duluth
I am looking for a business that rents camping gear (tents, sleeping bags, camp stoves, etc.). We are planning a short weekend camping trip and aren’t quite ready to go all out and purchase everything. Is there anywhere in Duluth or Superior that offers this kind of service? Also, is there anywhere that rents small fishing boats?

UMD’s rec dept seems to be busy with freshman weeklong activities. Last week I called, went over there and was severely disappointed that no one seemed to give a shit.
I made a post a couple days ago asking about boats. It seems there are very very few places that rent anything that floats. I’d get in with an outfitter out of Ely or somewhere in the Quetico just because they will come through for you. If you call the ski hut you will be directed to someone on Park Point that won’t return your phone calls.
If you are coming up from Minneapolis (or have a friend on the way up), you can rent camping equipment at REI (cheaper for co-op members).
Up the shore, the closest outfitter is Sawtooth in Tofte (https://www.sawtoothoutfitters.com/).

Like zra said, there is an outfitter closer to Duluth than Tofte. The Canoeist in Two Harbors is an awesome little store and they’re only 20 minutes from Duluth! They have lots of great gear for sale and also rent out just about anything for hiking, canoeing, and camping. He said they’ll also be renting out winter gear such as snowshoes, skiis, and winter tents. I’ve stopped by there a few times. Mike there is super helpful and knows a lot about the area.
