Learn about the importance of walkability for creating healthy and successful communities. Attend one or all of the events. Visit a different Duluth neighborhood each month and focus on a new section of the book.

Copies of the book are available to check-out for card holders at the Duluth Public Library and in the UMD Library. There are three circulating copies of the book and a Book Club in a Bag kit available for check out. This kit includes ten copies of the book and a discussion guide. August event: In this session, the focus is on Introductory sections including “Do I need to remind you why?”, “The Interesting Walk”, pp.67-72, 238-261, 267-284. Conversation will be followed by a walking audit of Grand Avenue between Central and 59th Avenue West. Bring walking shoes and a water bottle.

Future events:
September 11, 10 a.m. -12 p.m.: Duluth Public Library Adventure Book Club (Congdon Park). Registration required: Join Duluth Public Library for a book club in the great outdoors. The event is held at a different city park each month with a discussion of a book with an outdoor theme, followed by a low-impact, optional hike led by Parks and Recreation
