Veterans Day Ceremony

The University of Wisconsin-Superior will host a Veterans Day ceremony and presentation of the Henry Blomberg Excellence in Service Awards. The ceremony, which is open to the public, will begin with the presentation of colors, the national anthem and presentation of the Henry Blomberg Excellence in Service Awards.

The awards are named for Lt. Henry Blomberg, who, after graduating, joined the Wisconsin National Guard in 1916. Following his deployment to France with the 32nd Division during World War I, Blomberg distinguished himself through acts of bravery that earned him a promotion to captain. During the Meuse-Argonne Offensive in October 1918, he was seriously wounded and later died from his injuries. He was posthumously awarded the Distinguished Service Cross, the nation’s second-highest military honor.
