Room for Grief
Free
Organizers express that “grief is not a problem to be solved, but an experience to be witnessed and shared that connects us with others. Grief, when shared, becomes a bridge that connects us rather than a burden that isolates us; and offers an opportunity for finding authentic healing.” Each month, peer-led gatherings at Halcyon House are held for community members to share their experiences and skills to help others.
Attendees speak from personal experience, listen with curiosity, and honor different ways of responding to grief. After grounding exercises, guests share what brings them to the space, as well as what they are taking with them as they leave.
As the monthly gatherings evolve, participants and community members are invited to share the particular gifts and skills they have to offer this collective experience of grief. This may include singing, movement, breath work, and other embodied practices.
Participants are welcome to bring something to add to the altar that represents their experience of grief.
