Lapidary 101

Irie has been rockhounding and experimenting with lapidary arts since they were 13. Their grandpa got them interested in rocks and taught them how to make cabochons, face polish, and tumble rocks. Since then they have dived deep into the world of lapidary and they are now a geology major at UMD.

A one-night introduction to the lapidary arts and what the Duluth Makerspace has to offer local rock and mineral enthusiasts. Presentation of the saws, drill, lapidary polishers, and cabbing machines. Hands-on learning on the saw and cabbing arbor. Learn more about becoming Lapidary Studio Certified; this class is the first step.
