Lapidary 101

This two-hour class presents the basics of lapidary, which is the art of working in stone. Participants learn about local rocks and minerals, and the saws and tools to safely cut, form and polish them. The class includes demonstrations and hands-on learning on the saw and cabbing arbor.

The instructor is Irie Ralph, who has been experimenting with lapidary arts since the age of 13 and is a geology major at the University of Minnesota Duluth.

This introductory class is the first step to becoming lapidary-studio certified. The cost is $35 for Duluth MakerSpace members and $40 for nonmembers.
