In Her Shoes: Awareness and Open House

Safe Haven Shelter and Resource Center hosts an open house with light refreshments, tours and a self-guided “In Her Shoes” simulation. Participants move, act, think and make choices as a person experiencing an abusive relationship. This is the kick-off event for Domestic Violence Awareness Month and is an opportunity to bring together community members, donors, volunteers and staff to celebrate resilience and support survivors.

City officials will formally proclaim October as national Domestic Violence Awareness Month in the city of Duluth, as well as announce that Enger Tower will be lit purple to mark this important annual observance.
