Claydate on Park Point: Make Clay Art on the Beach

$100
Fri, Jun 5, 2026 6:00 pm

This beachside pottery workshop on the sandy shore of Lake Superior is designed for participants to create their own handmade ceramic mugs. The group will gather on the beach to shape clay by hand, take inspiration from the landscape, and slow down for a few hours beside the water.

This class is beginner-friendly and designed to be approachable, calming and creative. Participants do not need prior clay experience.

The precise meeting location will be announced closer to the event date.

Registration is available at gingerjuel.com. The $100 per-person cost covers all materials, instruction, glazing and kiln firing.

During the 2.5-hour workshop, participants learn foundational hand building techniques to create their mugs. The class includes demonstrations, guidance throughout the process, and time to experiment with texture and form. After the event, mugs are fired and glazed by the instructor and available for pickup at a later date.

Attendees should bring a sturdy cardboard box to carry mugs back to the car after class, a blanket/towel or beach chair, layers or weather-appropriate clothing and water or snacks if desired.

Please note that the class takes place directly on the beach and requires walking on uneven natural terrain. A backup weather date has been reserved for Saturday, June 6. If weather conditions are poor or unsafe on June 5, the class will automatically move to the backup date. If weather prevents the workshop from happening on both dates, registrants will receive a full refund.

Class size is intentionally limited to create a comfortable and personal experience with plenty of individual guidance and space to enjoy the setting.
