The Christmas City Express 2026

The Christmas City Express on the North Shore Scenic Railroad is an annual train ride and storytelling experience. Trains leave from the Depot on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from Nov. 27 to Dec. 20.

The performance begins in the Lake Superior Railroad Museum, where the story is told, carolers sing and a special guest pays a visit.

Show times are 4:15, 5:15, 6:15 and 7:15 p.m. on Fridays; 3:15, 4:15, 5:15, 6:15 and 7:15 p.m. on Saturdays (Saturdays are $5 more per ticket); and 3:15, 4:15, 5:15 and 6:15 on Sundays. The full experience is about 90 minutes, beginning with the performance and followed by a 30-minute train ride with complimentary hot chocolate, cookies and holiday tunes.

The cost for coach seats is $42 for adults, $38 for kids ages 3 and up, and free for ages 2 and under. Domecar seats are $52 for all passengers.

Music is part of the show. Each night a local performer shares some holiday joy with passengers before and after the performance of The Christmas city Express.
