The Duluth Art Institute hosts a free ArtDAI four times a year. The events are for all ages and abilities. Each event includes a variety of make-and-take art projects to fit with the season.
In this edition, attendees create essentials for an evening of trick-or-treating: costume pieces, candy bag, autumnal décor and more.
Snacks for the event are provided by Whole Foods Co-op.
Creative Studio First Wednesdays: What is a Critique with Robb Quisling
Ever wonder what makes a critique actually helpful? Join artist and educator Robb Quisling for a conversation about the purpose of critique, how it can strengthen your creative practice, and how to give and receive thoughtful, constructive feedback. Listen in while you work on your own creative projects in the multipurpose classroom space.
Following the presentation, participants are invited to stay for an optional one-on-one critique with Robb to put these ideas into practice. Perfect for developing and emerging artists.
First Wednesdays is part of a regular Weekly Creative Studio program with additional artist resources, special guests and professional development opportunities available during work time.
Duluth MakerSpace in full swing
Duluth’s 10,000+ sq. ft. cooperative member workshop is in full swing this month. Duluth MakerSpace offers a different class or event every night in February — everything from welding to electronics to soap making. Wednesday nights are also free demo nights with a different demonstration each week.
Paid membership is not necessary to take classes or attend demo nights. (more…)
