Death Valley Yacht Club
The folk/bluegrass duo performs. Folk-grungers Mud Puppies open.

Maxton Gudowski 5k Memorial Run/Walk
This year, all proceeds from online race registration will go to Cooper Community Care, a nonprofit organization based in Superior and dedicated to reducing the impact of poverty on local families and ensuring a more equitable education for all children in the community. There will also be a raffle on the day of the race, with proceeds going to Safe Haven Shelter and Resource Center.
Matinee Musicale: The Balourdet Quartet
The Balourdet Quartet is acclaimed for its vibrant energy and masterful blend of technical precision and emotional depth that brings a fresh perspective to both beloved classics and modern compositions. Its unique closeness and willingness to take creative risks earned it the 2024 Avery Fisher Career Grant, as well as Chamber Music America’s 2024 Cleveland Quartet Award. With more than 70 concerts per season, recent highlights include the Balourdet’s debuts at Carnegie and Wigmore Halls, and new string quartets by composers Karim Al-Zand, Paul Novak and Nicky Sohn. The group has recently been named the first ever Quartet-in-Residence at the Seattle Chamber Music Society and completed residencies at Indiana University and the New England Conservatory’s Professional String Quartet Program.
Adult tickets are $35 in advance at matineemusicale.org, and $40 at the door. Tickets for senior citizens are $30 in advance and $35 at the door. Student admission is free.
Doors open at 2:30 p.m. and after the concert, attendees are invited to meet the Balourdet Quartet during a free reception.
Matinee Musicale is a volunteer-run nonprofit organization that has brought world-class chamber music to the Duluth-Superior area since 1900. Its annual concert series focuses on young, rising artists.

City on the Hill Music Festival is two days of Christian, faith-based music at Bayfront Festival Park on the shores of Lake Superior. The event runs Aug. 7-8.
Gates open at 2 p.m. on Friday and noon on Saturday, welcoming attendees from across the Midwest to experience a lineup featuring Anne Wilson and Cain as headliners, alongside performances from Leanna Crawford, Ben Fuller, Cade Thompson and more.

Catch Superior Seafood Boils out on the fest field at Earth Rider Brewery every other Friday night for a Cajun boil. The small, family-run catering business has a mission to bring the taste, fun and spirit of an authentic Louisiana seafood boil up north.
