If you want a basic hash browns, eggs, sausage, bacon breakfast, try the Coney Island on Superior Street. It’s inexpensive, the wait staff is friendly, and you can grab a cup of coffee from Duluth Coffee Company next door and bring it into the Coney Island.

By far, though, the best foodie breakfast is at the Delta Diner. It’s a bit of a drive but worth it.
My personal favorite is the country fried steak at Uncle Loui’s Cafe. Used to be a big fan of the breakfasts at Amazing Grace (go on a weekday, weekends are a mess), best bacon ever. Haven’t been in a few years, not sure if anything has changed.
Duluth Grill is an all around great option, especially if you have out of town guests. Chester Creek Cafe is always tasty, but we rarely go due to long waits and poor service.
We don’t go out for brunch often, but when we do, we love the Looch. My daughter used to love making me Bloody Marys — she would try to make it so spicy that I’d cry — but then they moved the BM bar into the bar area, so she is not so into going there now. Sigh. Love Chester Creek brunch too.
Of course, there are other breakfast places that exist. The poll only included those recommended here, assuming that if there was no mention here after a few days the odds of one of those places winning a poll would be low.
Zeitgeist and Lake Ave. are great restaurants, but they seem to be less known for breakfast than for lunch and dinner.
Also, Zeitgeist only serves brunch on Saturday and Sunday, starting at 10 a.m. Lake Ave. has the same opening hours; I’m not sure if you can get brunch on a weekday there after it opens at 11 a.m. or not — which might also depend on how strictly we define the word “brunch.”

Another good diner is in Superior — the Kitchen.
As for fancier joints: At Sara’s Table/Chester Creek Cafe and Duluth Grill are local favorites.
It probably hasn’t been mentioned on this site before, but the best of them all is a good hour out of Duluth — Delta Diner in Delta, Wis.

My husband would say the Kitchen, I would say Pizza Luce (Pesto Bene) or the Duluth Grill.
